Episode 16 — Separate Legal Duties from Ethical Design Decisions

In cloud systems, where data copies can proliferate through logs, backups, and vendor integrations, the ethical case for minimization becomes even stronger because over-collection becomes hard to unwind. Ethically, the question becomes whether the system is respecting the person’s dignity and autonomy, or whether it is exploiting hidden patterns to steer behavior.
